Ranveer Singh is on cloud nine. 2018 was the happiest year for him and his professional and personal life, both being the reason. He had two big releases last year - Padmaavat and Simmba. While Padmaavat released in January last year, and Simmba released in December. In Padmaavat, he played the negative role of Alauddin Khilji and bowled the audience and critics' with his performance. In Simmba, he plays a quirky and intense cop Sangram Bhalerao.

Both the films are the biggest blockbusters of 2018. Simmba is still running successfully and made a collection of Rs 350 crores worldwide. The actor is now geared up for his first release of 2019 - Gully Boy. The trailer was released a few days ago and Singh has impressed everyone with his performance and rapping skills in it. Ranveer said that he is always hungry for good cinema and diverse content. He added, "I have realised over time that I like to go through a metamorphosis and become someone else on screen. I can’t play safe and I won’t play safe. It just doesn’t excite me as an artiste, so my content choices seem diverse. I can play a bloodthirsty villain, a cop, to channelising the voice of the streets in Gully Boy. I want to challenge myself, take bigger risks and entertain people who want to pay money to come to theatres to watch a good performance."ranveer singh family
Coming to Gully Boy, the film also stars Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film hits the screens on February 14, 2019.
